Yellowstone will end with season 5
Yellowstone will end with season 5, Paramount has announced. However, in a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June, Sheridan claimed that his planned ending was still in the works, with the Hollywood Reporter claiming that he would be working on more scenes to complete the role. He said there are ongoing discussions with Costner’s camp to film the film.
“It’s disappointing,” Sheridan said in an interview. “It shortens the unity of his personality. It doesn’t change, but it shortens.”
However, that doesn’t mean the final season will be shortened. Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 was originally planned to be only six episodes, but that may not be the case in the future. “If you think it’s going to take 10 episodes to finish, [Paramount Network] will give you 10 episodes,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter. It will take as long as it needs.
Paramount has announced a new modern-day Yellowstone spin-off series titled 2024, which appears to be the long-awaited Yellowstone sequel, with Matthew McConaughey in talks to direct. Sheridan has previously hinted that the series could be set in a different location than the main series.
“There are many places where a lifestyle that has existed for 150 years meets a new lifestyle, but the challenges are completely different,” Sheridan told THR. “There are many places to tell this story.”
One of the places Sheridan wanted to tell this story was an authentic part of North Texas that became part of the history of Yellowstone and is land now owned by Sheridan. His ranch was 6666 Ranch. However, production on 6666 is currently on hold as Sheridan has witnessed this legendary story firsthand and wants to spend extra time building 6666.
