The prequels 1883 and 1923 still follow the Dutton family, but the stories are not connected to the central Yellowstone narrative at all outside of some Easter eggs in the story. Even Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which is not technically a Yellowstone spinoff, carries the same strong character work and well-written dramatic elements that are a benchmark of the show.
