Kevin Costner’s two-part Western epic “Horizon: An American Saga” is coming to theaters next summer. According to Warner Bros. and New Line, “Chapter 1” will be released on June 28, 2024, and “Chapter 2” will arrive on August 16, 2024.
The first movie will open against Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two,” while the sequel will premiere a week after Lionsgate’s “Borderlands” adaptation, starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart.

Costner has teased big plans for ‘Horizon’, which he originally planned as ‘four separate films’ released every three months. “They’re all different movies that connect together, so you’re watching a saga of these stories that are happening,” he told Variety last year. It’s unclear if Costner still plans to expand ‘Horizon‘ into a four-part saga.
In addition to directing, Costner is starring in “Horizon: An American Saga” alongside Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington and Luke Wilson. The story spans 15 years of settlement on America’s western frontier and focuses on the settlers and indigenous groups who first occupied the land.
“It’s a beautiful story; It’s a difficult story,” Costner previously said. “It involved women trying to navigate a world that was impossibly difficult. They were often [dragged] to these places because they wanted to go there; Women were following their men.
They did not ask to live in these territories which were turbulent and dangerous and life was not easy. I chose to make sure it was really clear, that it wasn’t easy, and how vulnerable people were.”

Costner is the star of Paramount Network’s hit series “Yellowstone,” which has made him one of the highest-paid actors in episodic TV. But his future with the series remains uncertain amid a dispute with “Yellowstone” producers, who alleged that Costner was available for fewer and fewer days as he turned his attention to shooting “Horizon.”

However, Costner said the opposite is true and insisted he was delaying his filming schedule to accommodate Season 5 of “Yellowstone.”
“Horizon: An American Saga” is Costner’s fourth directorial effort, following 2003’s “Open Range,” 1997’s “The Post Man” and 1990’s Oscar best picture-winner “Dances with Wolves.”
