Luke Grimes is reflecting on Yellowstone’s Season 5 ending: Yellowstone star Luke Grimes has offered a reflection on the series ending with Season 5, reflecting on how long he’s been on the show. Grimes plays Kayce Dutton, the estranged son of John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the most rebellious of the siblings.
He has been on the show since the first episode and will continue to play the role for the rest of Season 5, which will air later this year.
Speaking with People, Grimes reflected on how Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 will end the show. The actor discussed how much the series has been a part of his life for the past seven years, and expressed how much he will miss being a part of the show. See what Grimes said below:
The Story Of Yellowstone Won’t End With Its Final Season
Although the popular western series is expected to end in November 2024, the franchise will continue far beyond the main series. The Yellowstone sequel starring Matthew McConaughey, to be titled 2024, is planned to air some time after the original series ends.
A sequel to 1944 and 1923 Season 2 has also been promised, with a modern 6666 set at Four Sixes Ranch in Texas
In February 2024, it was reported that Grimes was in negotiations to reprise her role as Kayce for 2024, though there has been no confirmation of her return. Other cast members of Yellowstone are reported to be in talks for the sequel, including Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton.
While Grimes will no doubt see the show end, the potential presence of the three actors in the sequel means its legacy could live on in more than just name.
Given the number of spinoffs Yellowstone has planned, the series could continue long, even after the main show ends. While the end of the popular Western will be bittersweet, the fact that its universe will continue to expand means the stories of the Dutton family aren’t over yet.
With only one batch of episodes left, there’s no telling how the show will end, or whether it will directly lead to its upcoming sequel.
