Avatar : The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the 2005 Nickelodeon animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is set to premiere on Netflix.
Like its predecessor, the Netflix series depicts a world where people can control one of the four elements – Water, Earth, Fire, Air – and live in four respective countries. The show follows Aang who learns that he is the Avatar, the only one who can master all four elements, and he must defeat the Fire Nation to end the 100 Year War.
“With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope emerges when Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young Air Nomad – and the last of his kind – again Awakens. The show’s synopsis reads, “Take his rightful place as the next Avatar.”
The series will take fans of the classic cartoon on an adventurous journey as Aang learns each of the bending styles with his friends Katara (Kiaventio Tarbell) and Sokka (Ian Owsley). During the first season, several threats from the Fire Nation, including the exiled Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) try desperately to capture Aang and bring Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) to the Fire
