The Regime: The series was called “The Palace” and was executive-produced by Winslet with “Succession” creator and writers Tracy, Frank Rich, Tracy Seward, Frears and Hobbs. Seth Reese, Sarah DeLappe, Jen Spira, “Super Sad True Love Story” writer Gary Steingart, and Julie Weiner also serve as writers.
Winslet’s relationship with HBO extends far beyond “Mayor of Easttown,” the crime drama series that dominated online water coolers in 2021. He also starred in Todd Haynes’ “Mildred Pierce” adaptation in 2011 and is set to reunite with “May December.” Director for the series “Trust” based on the novel of the same name by Hernán Díaz.
That series, if it goes on, would center on a wealthy financier who reads a book based on his life and who, dissatisfied with the portrayal of himself and his wife, asks a secretary to write his memoir and set the record straight.

After not leaving the castle for quite some time, Chancellor Elena Wernham (Kate Winslet) becomes more paranoid and unstable when she turns to an unstable soldier, Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), as an unlikely confidant.
As Zubak’s influence over the Chancellor grows, Elena His efforts to expand his power ultimately resulted in a rift in both the palace and the country.
Kate Winslet will play a condemned dictator in The Regime, a new limited series about the fall of modern European autocracy. The project marks the Oscar-winning star’s third collaboration with HBO, after winning critical praise for the 2011 miniseries Mildred Pierce and the 2021 drama Mare of Easttown.
Filled with political intrigue and scandal, the six-part drama The Regime will also feature a star-studded cast including Hugh Grant, Andrea Riseborough and Martha Plimpton – who feature heavily in the early trailer (watch below).
There’s also plenty of talent behind the camera, with Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs directing the series. Frears’ screen credits include The Queen and British TV dramas Quiz and A Very English Scandal, while Hobbs is known for directing episodes of Broadchurch and Netflix drama The Crown.
The Regime release date
The Regime will premiere on Sunday, March 3, 2024, on HBO and the streaming service Max. The six-part series will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW from Monday 8 April 2024.
