According to the report, Costner’s commitments to those films required him to shoot only 50 days for the first half of Yellowstone Season 5. But Costner “only wanted to shoot one week” for the season’s remaining episodes. As a result, Paramount Network planned to end the series and move towards a sequel show.

Sheridan addressed the issue in a June 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where she said: “My last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct.” He and the network were debating when his work with Yellowstone would end. I said, ‘We can definitely work out a schedule for [her preferred exit date],’ which we did.”

Sheridan said, “My opinion of Kevin as an actor hasn’t changed.” “I’ve never had a problem with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work on the phone.
